The best places to stay in Thailand

Where to stay in Bangkok

You’ll probably begin or end your journey in the beautiful city of Bangkok, which offers a wide range of cultural attractions, shopping malls, cultural tours, and many more things to do.
It’s a stunning city with lots of hip rooftop bars, eateries, crazy traffic, and very kind people.

As it can be hard to choose the best hotels in Bangkok when visiting for the first time, I listed here my top recommendations with a good ratings, excellent locations, and affordable.

Where to stay in Chiang Mai

The second-largest city in Thailand, Chiang Mai, is situated in the region in the country’s north which is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. This city is highly well-liked by travellers since it is filled with historic temples and has a nice, laid-back attitude.

The Old Town in Chiang Mai, which is in the centre of the city, is easily accessible, and has a wide selection of excellent hotels, is the area that receives the most visitors. You could spend a week here and never get bored because there is so much to do in and around the city.

Best hotels in Pai

Located in the northwest of the country and just a few hours outside of Chiang Mai is a picturesque and charming village known as Pai. Backpackers, nomads, and people who love the outdoors consider it to be the “place to be” because of the breathtaking natural scenery that surrounds Pai.

Although Pai itself has a number of wonderful attractions that you really need to visit. It would be very easy for you to spend here a week without going to the same place twice.

Best hotels in Chiang Rai

In the same way that Chiang Mai, which is located further to the south, is a good place to start for backpacking journeys and many other activities through the lovely scenery of Northern Thailand, Chiang Rai is also a great place to begin your trip.

Simply because there are fewer tourists in Chiang Rai and the atmosphere there is much more laid back. There are many beautiful cultural sights, a great variety of restaurants. and many amazing places to stay in Chiang Rai.

The best hotels in Phuket

The largest island is Phuket, which is also one of the country’s most well-known tourist destinations. Because of its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and advantageous location for travelling to nearby islands, it is a very popular vacation destination.

Take a trip around the islands on one of the many available tours, admire the breathtaking scenery from one of the many different viewpoints, and explore the jungle in search of waterfalls. Everyone can find their own little piece of paradise here on this island.

Best hotels on Phi Phi Island

The Phi Phi Islands are a group of six islands, the largest of which is Koh Phi Phi Don and Koh Phi Phi Leh. They are one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region of Krabi, which is located in Southern part of the country.

The islands are found in the breathtaking Andaman Sea and are surrounded by breathtaking white beaches, however, the only way to get to the islands is by boat. Koh Phi Phi Don, which is the largest of the islands, is where you will find the most restaurants, shops and hotels.

Where to stay in Krabi

The province of Krabi is often regarded as one of the most picturesque and well-known tourist destinations in Thailand due to its proximity to the sea and the presence of limestone cliffs. When you search for inspiration for your trip, you will most likely find some images of Krabi.

It is also safe to say that Ao Nang is the most popular location in all of Krabi because of the variety of places to stay, shopping arcades, and restaurants serving excellent food.

Hotels in Khao Sok National Park

The Khao Sok National Park is truly lovely and it’s one of the world’s oldest rainforests as well as one of Thailand’s most stunning natural parks.

Khao Sok is a must-see for anyone who wants to see some of Asia’s most pristine regions, with panoramic views of giant limestone cliffs reaching up into the air, cascades in the lush green forest, breathtaking lakes, and wild animals.

It is possible to visit the National Park on a day trip from Krabi or Phuket but I highly recommend staying overnight in one of the unique floating bungalows.

Where to stay in Koh Lanta

One of the larger islands in Thailand, Koh Lanta is found in the Andaman Sea and is known for its beautiful beaches. Compared to other places in the area, like Phuket and Krabi, it is much less developed, less crowded, and more peaceful.

Koh Lanta has a beautiful laid-back atmosphere, long deserted beaches, mountains covered in jungle, and spectacular sunsets. There are many places to eat and things to do, as well as many places to stay in Koh Lanta for all budgets.

The best hotels in Koh Mook

In contrast to the crowded islands in the area, Koh Mook is a wonderful and gorgeous island in the Southwest.  The majority of visitors come for the beaches, the calmness, and the quiet atmosphere.

However, there is much more to do on the Island and staying here for a few days gives you the opportunity to explore all the highlights of the Island.

The best hotels in Koh Lipe

The island of Koh Lipe is located in the most Southern part of the country try, near the border of Malaysia. Due to its remote location, there is still not a lot of mass tourism here, but more and more travelers are visiting this beautiful island every year.

The easiest way to get there is from Langkawi, which is an island in Malaysia located near Koh Lipe. The relaxing atmosphere and stunning scenery of Koh Lipe’s beaches and jungles make it the perfect vacation destination, so definitely worth spending a few days here.

The best hotels in Koh Chang

Although it is the second largest island, Koh Chang is not as frequently visited by tourists as some of the country’s other islands. It is actually a large forest that features winding roads and stunning natural scenery, and it is located not far from the border with Cambodia.

The laid-back vibe along with the other positive aspects of this island make it a favorite destination for budget travelers. The island is home to a great number of lovely resorts and hotels, all of which can be found on the island’s numerous beaches.

There are many options on where to stay in Thailand and I hope this article will help you to find some beautiful places for your trip.

The camera gear I used for this trip

I never go out without my camera and many people ask me which gear I use. So to make it quite easy, I listed all the gear I used for this trip below.

Most of the time, I travel with the Sony A7III and the Sony 24-105mm/f4 as my primary lens but depending on the location, I change to another setup. However, I love the Tamron 17-28 to shoot in the big cities.
