The best hotels in the Philippines

The best hotels in Manila (Makati)

Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and whether it’s the first or last days of your trip, you deserve to stay in one of the best hotels in the city.

From luxurious five-star hotels to budget-friendly options, Manila has it all. After a long flight, you want to relax and recharge before exploring the beautiful Philippines.

Each neighbourhood has its unique charm and atmosphere, and Makati, the financial district, was my favourite area. You’ll find high-end hotels like The Peninsula Manila and Fairmont Makati, as well as budget-friendly options like Z Hostel.

Prices can vary greatly depending on factors like location, amenities, and time of year. On average, you can expect to pay around 10€ to €30 per night for a budget-friendly hotel or hostel, while high-end luxury hotels can cost upwards of €60 to €100 per night.

Where to stay in Coron

If you’re looking for the most photographed islands and beaches in the Philippines, be sure to add Coron to your travel list. Coron is a super laidback town located at the northern tip of Palawan where you find some of the most impressive wrecks of WWII.

If you’re planning a trip here, you’ll want to find the best accommodation to suit your needs and budget. Prices in Coron are very affordable, with budget-friendly options starting at around €25 per night. Mid-range hotels and resorts can range from €50 to €100 per night, while high-end luxury resorts can cost upwards of €200 per night.

Popular areas to stay in Coron include the town proper, where you’ll find a variety of accommodations, and the nearby islands, where you can experience a more secluded and peaceful stay. With so many options to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect place to stay during your visit to Coron.

The best hotels in El Nido

Welcome to El Nido, one of the most breathtaking destinations in the Philippines! With its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and towering limestone cliffs, it’s no wonder why this place is on so many travel bucket lists.

When it comes to accommodation, you’ll find a range of options to suit any budget. Budget-friendly hostels can be found for as little as €10 per night, while mid-range hotels and resorts range from €30 to €100 per night.

The best hotels in Port Barton

When you enter the small, sleepy town of Port Barton it immediately feels like time has stood still. Many people skip this place, however, it has a beautiful beach with lots of nice bars, there are some really good restaurants (the best pizzeria I’ve ever been to!) and you can go on a snorkelling or island hopping tour.

Count at least 2-3 days if you add Port Barton to your list as this charming coastal town is perfect for those seeking a relaxing and off-the-beaten-path experience.

With its crystal-clear waters, stunning beaches, and lush green surroundings, it’s no wonder why Port Barton is becoming a popular destination for travellers.

The best hotels in Puerto Princesa

In Puerto Princesa, there is not much to experience but it’s the perfect stop before you start or continue your trip to other places in Palawan or islands in the Philippines.

The International Airport easily connects Palawan with the Visayas islands such as Cebu, Boracay and Siargao which makes it easy and affordable to travel to.

If you have the time you could consider visiting the Underground River, which is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The best hotels in Cebu

Cebu is next to Palawan the perfect place to start a trip through the Philippines. Thanks to the International Airport you can fly there very easily without making an extra stop in Manila.

You can easily stay weeks on Cebu as there are so many things to do! My favourite activities here are swimming with whale sharks (although it has now become a real tourist trap), canyoneering, chasing waterfalls and diving with millions of sardines.

Below you will find a selection of our most favorite accommodations in Cebu to help you choose the best place to stay.

The best hotels in Moalboal

When I went to visit Cebu, I really liked my stay in the small town of Moalboal, which is located on the island’s southwestern tip. Moalboal is a diver’s paradise and a well-known location for swimming among millions of sardines.

The majority of the lodgings are diving resorts, inexpensive hostels, or small boutique hotels with an on-site diving facility. Besides the many excellent restaurants and bars, Moalboal is only an hour away from the most stunning waterfalls in Cebu.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Moalboal, I have included some of my top recommendations below.

The best hotels in Bohol

Bohol, an island just a boat trip away from Cebu, is home to some of the world’s cutest and tiniest primates. The Chocolate Hills, also located in Bohol, are a must-see attraction. (Definitely try to go during sunset)

Panglao Island, which is linked to the main island of Bohol and features a stunning beach, is also a great choice for a vacation destination. The area is ideal for diving, and it also has many excellent dining and shopping options.

Here is a list of some of the greatest hotels and other lodging options I’ve found on Bohol.

Where to stay in Siquijor

If you like rope swings, cliff jumping and waterfalls, Siquijor is the island you have to explore in the Philippines. This tranquil island is home to picture-perfect white sand beaches, top-notch dining options, and, thanks to the year-round good weather, breathtaking sunsets.

I highly recommend renting a scooter (if you are comfortable driving a  scooter) and exploring the island’s hidden gem. However, Siquijor is a small Island, I would recommend staying at least 3 days as there are so many incredible activities to do.

The best hotels in Malapascua Island

Malapascua, a small island off the northern coast of Cebu, is one of the Philippines’ most picturesque destinations. Although the bus and boat rides to Malapascua are long and uncomfortable, the island is well worth a visit.

Especially if you enjoy scuba diving, as this is the only spot in the world where you may dive with thresher sharks daily.

The island is small but the southern half, in particular, is vibrant, with bars, restaurants, and, of course, diving resorts.

The best hotels in Siargao

I have been to the Philippines multiple times and Siargao is the best island I’ve explored. The laid-back vibe, the tasty and nutritious food options, and the stunning landscapes.

During my time on Siargao, I hired a scooter and drove all around the island in search of the most beautiful places, hidden gems and lovely restaurants.

Plan your trip in advance as most places to stay in Siargao are booked out fast and I would recommend staying at least 4 days as there is so much to explore, such as surfing at the world-famous Cloud 9 or discovering the islands and secluded lagoons around Siargao.

The best hotels in Camiguin Island

Camiguin has more volcanoes per square meter than any other place on Earth. But don’t worry; you definitely want to check out this stunning, relatively undeveloped island.

From beautiful waterfalls and untamed mountains to welcoming people. A gigantic Christ statue sits close off the coast, making for excellent snorkelling and diving with turtles.

It’s truly an uncharted paradise waiting to be found and since accommodations are limited, I’ve listed down some great places to stay in Camiguin

The best hotels in Dumaguete

After visiting Siquijor, I took the ferry to Dumaguete and even though I was only in Dumaguete for a short period of time, it turned out to be an unforgettable trip for me.

You can have amazing adventures like going snorkelling or diving off the coast of Apo Island, exploring stunning waterfalls, or unwinding in one of the many hot springs that are located around the island.

So, if you still have a few days left on your itinerary in the Philippines, I would recommend exploring Dumaguete as well as it is also easy to fly from here back to Manila.

Where to stay in Boracay Island

During one of my journeys to the Philippines, I made a stop at Boracay Island, which is home to one of the islands with the purest white sand beaches you will ever find.

If you’re looking for a peaceful vacation, this really is paradise. Boracay is home to a large number of luxurious resorts, quaint boutique hotels, and affordable hostels, making it an ideal destination for every traveller and every budget.

Also, keep in mind that you cannot travel to Boracay without a hotel reservation.

A vacation in the Philippines is an amazing and unforgettable experience that offers something for everyone.

I have included in this article information about some of the loveliest and most reasonably priced hotels in the Philippines in the hopes that it will make it easier for you to plan a trip to this stunning country.

The camera gear I used for this trip

I never go out without my camera and many people ask me which gear I use. So to make it quite easy, I listed all the gear I used for this trip below.

Most of the time, I travel with the Sony A7III and the Sony 24-105mm/f4 as my primary lens but depending on the location, I change to another setup. However, I love the Tamron 17-28 to shoot in the big cities.
